COSM’OIL® KD is Organic Virgin Pongamia Glabra Seed oil. It is obtained from the crushing and pressing of the seeds (Pongamia Glabra), followed by a deodorization. The oil is yellow in colour and clear, with a very light odour. Karanja Oil is derived from the Punjam / Karanja tree (Pongammia glabra), which is found throughout India. The pit accounts for 95, 5% of the weight of the fruit, and contains about 30% oil. The oil extraction yield varies with the technique, in the range of 18 to 28%. The Karanja tree belongs to the family of the Leguminaceae, and reaches a height of around 8 m, although they have been reported to reach 18 m. Its white or mauve flowers appear between April and September depending on the region. About 10 to 11 months later, between February and May, the fruits have ripened. They are elliptical and are about 7.5 cm long and 3 cm wide. They contain one or two white pits covered with a re Each tree can furnish 8 to 24 kg of pits.
