Echium is a genus of 70 flowering plants, in the Boraginaceae family, with the most common species Echium Vulgare.
The plant seed is cultivated due to its high concentration of long chain fatty acids, predominantly C18 chains including α-linolenic, linolenic and stearidonic derived acids, which form important precursors to a range of anti-inflammatory compounds found in the blood.
Echium Oil has regenerative effects in topical and oral forms, where it significantly increases collagen, fibrillin and decorin making it ideal for photo-aged skin where it increases skin elasticity, reduces the appearance of wrinkles. Echium oil maximises skin benefits by boosting the natural skin barrier and preventing UVB inflammatory damage . It also boosts the skin’s natural defence system when applied topically, and is 100% natural and vegan friendly
