PINEAPPLE CERAMIDE

Ceramides are essential to protect our skin.

The relationship between the cells and Ceramides is often called the Bricks  and Mortar structure.

Moreover, in the Epidermis , our Ceramides mainly work as like a sponge including oil and water.

Ceramides not only maintain the structure of the horny layer but also works as lubricant of selected-transportation and barrier against external stress.

Ceramide is the major intercellular lipid filling the gaps in corneocytes of the horny layer – the outer layer of skin, and plays an important role in suppression of TEWL (trans-epidermal water loss), skin barrier function to interrupt invasion of foreign substances or maintenance of skin structure. It is known that Ceramide decreases with aging or atopic dermatitis.

There are different kinds of plant derived ceramides, from Rice, Konjac, Corn or Mushrooms.

Here, we introduce Ceramide from Pineapple (Ananas Sativus), which contains a higher content of glucoceramides than any other fruits. Pineapple ceramide is extracted not from the juice, but from the residues after the pressing process, so it is a very eco-friendly ingredient.

The combination of Cyclodextrin and Ananas Sativus (Pineapple) Fruit extract in  Pineapple ceramide gives it the functions of whitening, brightening, improving skin smoothness and anti-glycation. It can be used for daily UV care or after sun damage.

Pineapple Ceramide extract increased the expressions of Pro-filaggrin/Filaggrin, Transglutaminase-1, Laminin-5, and Collagen-1 – important proteins for appropriate skin structure and barrier functions. The extract also facilitates proliferation of fibroblast cells to enhance healthy structure of the skin.
